The Devon Blue have a 95% chance of laying a lovely pale blue to olive green coloured egg. These hens have a very unique look, often featuring a crested "hair do". They range in plumage colour from a pale creamy brown to a dark copper and are often flecked with white, golden or charcoal grey feathers.
They have very soft plumage and some even have feathered legs. Speckled Maran hybrids lay approximately 260-280 lovely speckled brown eggs per year.
The light Sussex has a white body with a black tail and black wing tips. Its neck is white, striped with black and has a very striking appearance. They conform to breed standard and have a long back with the tail of moderate size being held at 45' in males and 35' in females.
These very attractive hens have black plumage with gold markings on the neck and chest. The amount of markings will vary from hen to hen within the breed. The iridescent black feathers have a stunning green sheen in the sunlight. They are very calm hens who will reward you with lots of lovely eggs. They are very hardy and will want to be outside in all weather.
Colombian Black Tail chickens are a good hardy bird laying 300 good sized brown eggs a year. They make excellent free range chickens and have a lovely chestnut red colour.
